Presentation

The steering wheel controller is a very compact and lightweight electronic board which converts digital and analog inputs to data transmitted via CAN.  With is diameter of 2 1/16" (55 mm) it is small enough to fit inside a steering wheel hub with room to spare.
The module is intended to significantly reduce the wiring complexity of switches and potentiometers on a typical racing car steering wheel, making it more reliable.  It only requires a connection using 4 wires to integrate it into the car's wiring harness, streamlining installations over previously employed methods.
The steering wheel module has inputs for 20 digital switches and 3 analog potentiometers and 24 LED drivers.
Communication, programming and terminating the CAN bus are all done via the CAN link. Two different CAN data formats can be used simultaneously, communicating on different addresses.
Each switch input can be configured as either latching or momentary. No switch has priority over another, pressing two switches simultaneously will activate both switches, unless arranged in a group mode.
Each digital switch can be configured as normal open or normal closed by default and also programmed with up to 8 individual switch stages.

OBR membrane switch panels (MSP) are designed to simplify the installation and reduce the wiring complexity of a traditional switch panel in a race car.

These intelligent programmable panels offer improved driver visibility, simplified cockpit layout, and complete post installation flexibility.

Panels offer 8 to 20 switches with momentary or latching conditions, as well as up to 3 analogue inputs all exported over a simple single Deutsch ASL Autosport connection.
Each switch panel is backlit via an inbuilt electroluminescent layer, this can be automatically dimmed in the software or adjusted over CAN bus.  To ensure even greater visibility during long distance races, the panels can also feature UV-florescent inks for button surrounds and labels.

40 red/green LED switch status lights with local or closed loop feedback control provide excellent diagnostics and a clear indication of switch status.
OBR switch panels can be supplied in many layouts from file or designed to suit customer’s individual needs; customized color graphics, labels, switch mounting holes and logos are encouraged.
