New project - OBR control pack for use on Godzilla engine with carburetor.

OBR has put together an engine control pack for a carburetor version of Ford's 2023 7.3 V8 'Godzilla' engine.

Following numerous requests we are releasing 3 versions of our Godzilla engine control packs, based on Euro-2+ ECU.  These kits require the use of the ignition coils from the 2023 engine but the oil pressure sensor from the early engine.
One kit is supplied with a universal engine harness, supplied with connectors and is intended for you to build your own harness.
A second kit is supplied with a high tech bespoke engine harness, build by OBR, one is for a carburetor engine, another version for an injected engine.

Our aim is to supply our customers with a well engineered, high quality and easy to install kit, offering very good drive-ability straight out of the box.

The universal kit is supplied with a harness, all positions in the ECU connector is populated with 10' long wires.  A power supply connector and power supply splices are included as well as connectors with terminals for the engine sensors and actuators.

OBR prepared kit includes these parts:
- OBR Euro-2+ controller with a startup tune.
- New OBR engine wiring harness (build in-house using aircraft style high quality wire).
- Power supply harness with relays for engine, fuel pump and fan.
- One wide band lambda sensor for closed loop fuel control.
- TMAP sensor to fit on the intake manifold.
- Communication kit OB256 for full access to the ECU calibration.

Our kits are designed to connect to standard sensors, actuators and drive-by-wire throttle body, no modifications or exchange of parts are required apart from coils and oil pressure sensor.
The ECU is supplied with a startup tune preloaded.

Updating the ECU tune is straight forward calibration wise. To access the ECU you will need the OB256 communication kit, which is included with the kit. The software is free of charge and can be downloaded from our website. This way you have full access to all software parameters and you can update and tune the engine to suit high performance requirements.

What the base kits includes...

Our 3 Euro-2+ based kits for the Godzilla engine are specially configured to control standard features on the engine with some corrections.  You must use the 2023 style ignition coil and the 2020 style oil pressure sensor.

Important Notice
Our control packs are calibrated using premium fuel with 93 octane rating with fuel pressure set to 60 psi.

  • It is essential that you use this fuel grade.
  • Using a fuel with lesser octane rating may result in severe engine damages

Please contact us if this fuel grade is not available in your area and we will provide you with a 87 octane calibration.  
If you are using our calibration tool OB256, you can of course adjust the spark advance to whatever you choose.

Engine Computer
The Euro-2+ ECU is designed and built in Italy and control the Godzilla engine in batch mode only.  Among its many features are boost control, lambda control with self learn, flat shift and full ignition and fuel control.

Engine Wiring Harness
OBR has selected not to use standard automotive wire as it cannot stand up to our high-heat application request.  Instead, we use TXL cross link wire.  Featuring chemically cross-linked polyethylene insulation (XLPE), TXL automotive wire is the perfect choice where heat and flame resistance is a stringent requirement, such as in the engine compartment of vehicles. The smooth finish makes it resistant to moisture, oil, gasoline, grease, and most acids and solvents. The minimal diameter and weight of the TXL extra thin wire are ideal for tight spaces.

TXL Cross-Link wire is constructed with bare copper, a stranded wire that meets or exceeds SAE J1128, Ford M1L-123A, and Chrylser MS-8288 requirements. The 60 V DC (25 V AC) wire is rated to work optimally between extreme temperatures of -40°C to 125°C (-40°F to 257°F).

Power Wiring Harness
The power supply harness is included in the kit and is made using the same high tech wire and tape as used for our Euro-2+ engine harness.
It is fitted with 3 relays, one for the engine control, a second for the fuel pump and the third is a spare, for example for a fan.  All relays are fitted with a 30A fuse.

TMAP Sensor and Fitting Adapter
Our control pack reads the manifold vacuum and uses this data as an expression for the engine load.
A sensor measuring the absolute pressure in the intake manifold is included in the kit.  No drilling is required.

Which Throttle Bodies are Supported?
Euro-2+ can be used with carburetors and cable operated injection type throttle bodies.

Control Pack
We have changed the way we supply calibrations with our kits. Initially, there were not that many performance parts available But today there are so many different parts on the market, numerous different intakes, throttle bodies, camshafts etc.
The changes between our kits using different performance parts are with the ECU tune and it can be configured to handle almost any configuration, being naturally aspirated, turbo charged or supercharged engines.
We include our OB256 communication kit with our control packs to give you the perfect tool to optimize your system to perfection.

Kit for a naturally aspirated engine includes these parts:
- OBR Euro-2+ stand alone engine controller, supplied with startup tune.
- New OBR high quality engine wiring harness.
- Power supply harness complete with 3 relays for main power, fuel pump and coolant fan, all fitted with 30A fuses and connections for your tach and a secondary cooling fan.
- 1 wide band lambda sensor for closed loop fuel control.
- 1 bar TMAP air pressure and air temperature sensor.
- OB256 ECU communication kit for full ECU software access.

Which Kit To Order:
Give us a call to talk about your planned engine program.
To help making us pick the right engine tune, we will need to know for example which intake manifold, which type and model of throttle body, injectors and camshaft you want to use.
Please note that depending on your chosen parts, the ECU tune might need correction.  This is typically an easy fix since you can have full access to the ECU tune.

Does OBR Offer After Sales Support?
Yes, OBR has an excellent after sales service.
For a period of 12 month from your purchase, you are free to contact us by phone and by email with questions or comments about the kit, this is included with your purchase of the kit.

The kit includes our ECU communication tool, you have full access to the ECU software.
Introduction and software and calibration support for 2 hours is included with your purchase.
If additional support is required, this can be purchased separately.

If you want to have OBR support during a complete remapping session of an engine, we will charge our normal engineering support charge per hour.

Data export and import via CAN:
Euro-2+ can export 33 data channels via CAN.
With this feature data can be displayed on a CAN based display, exported to a transmission controller or to a data logger.
The CAN export is in Motorola format and the standard baud rate is 1 Mbit/s.

Vehicle speed :
The wiring harness is supplied with an auxiliary input connector.  In this connector you will find inputs for a wheel speed sensor.

Automatic transmission controller:
A stand alone controller is required if an automatic transmission is used.  The engine wiring harness has a connector for such a controller, providing connections to:
- Power and ground
- Engine RPM and load
- CAN data export (used by some manufacturers for engine data)

Connection to instrument cluster:
Euro-2+ can send data via CAN to almost any instrument cluster which have a CAN link for importing data.

Our kit is supplied through selected specialist dealers across the country, these tuning shops can access the ECUs software features.
So if you are thinking about modifying your engine, for example by fitting a high performance camshaft, fitting a supercharger or going for a turbo solution, our kit is easily updated to accept such changes.
